Course Description

This course reflects the role of individuals who apply knowledge, practical skills and experience in leadership and management across a range of enterprise and industry contexts.

Individuals at this level display initiative and judgement in planning, organising, implementing and monitoring their own workload and the workload of others. They use communication skills to support individuals and teams to meet organisational or enterprise requirements.

They plan, design, apply and evaluate solutions to unpredictable problems, and identify, analyse and synthesise information from a variety of sources.


Course Structure

The 12 units of competency in this course will be delivered over a period of 52 weeks with 16 weeks holidays, consisting of 2 – 3 days per week of classroom based face-to-face learning (20 hours per week) to ensure full competency.

This is equivalent to 720 hrs of training over a period of one year in 6 terms. Each term consists of 6 weeks.

Following 12 units need to be completed. These include 4 cores and 8 electives as per training package requirements:

Assessment Methods

Assessment is structured throughout the course. If students are unable to achieve competency, additional support is provided through academic support and access to re-assessment as outlined in our policies and procedures. Assessment requires achievement across all tasks to demonstrate competence and may include:


Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Students with prior learning and work experience can apply for RPL. Students who have completed corresponding units of competency and/or units contained within the packaging rules can apply for Credit Transfer. For more information, see our current policies and procedures at


Future Pathway

Students who complete this qualification can continue their studies by advancing to BSB61015 Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management or any other relevant Advanced Diploma level qualification.
