FNS50215 – Diploma of Accounting (Superseded)

This course reflects professional accounting job roles in financial services and other industries. Individuals in these roles apply solutions to a range of often complex problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources. They apply initiative to plan, coordinate and evaluate their own work and guidance to others within defined guidelines.
The 11 units of competency in this course will be delivered over a period of 78 weeks with 24 weeks holidays, consisting of 2 – 3 days per week of classroom based face-to-face learning (20 hours per week) to ensure full competency.
This is equivalent to 1080 hrs of training over a period of one and half years in 9 terms. Each term consists of 6 weeks.

Following are the pre-requisites for the core unit ‘FNSACC504 Prepare financial reports for corporate entities’ in this qualification:
- BSBFIA401 Prepare financial reports
- FNSACC301 Process financial transactions and extract interim reports
The pre-requisites requirements can be met by evidence of equivalent competency through recognition of prior learning (RPL) or statement of attainments or transcript and certificate for FNS40215 – Certificate IV in Accounting or other relevant qualifications with the above-mentioned units.
NCCS other enrolment requirements are following:
- Must be over the age of 18 years
- Must have completed a year 12 certificate or Certificate IV in a related field or equivalent or have relevant vocational experience
- IELTS score 5.5 or equivalent as per DHA requirements or Australian qualification equivalent to a minimum of Certificate IV level.

Assessment is structured throughout the course. If students are unable to achieve competency, additional support is provided through mentoring and access to re-assessment as outlined in our policies and procedures. Assessment requires achievement across all tasks to demonstrate competence and may include:
- Written questioning and Exercises
- Oral questioning
- Case Study analysis
- Written Reports
- Role Play
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Students with prior learning and work experience can apply for RPL. Students who have completed corresponding units of competency and/or units contained within the packaging rules can apply for Credit Transfer. For more information, see our current policies and procedures at www.nccs.edu.au.
Students who complete this qualification can continue their studies by advancing to the FNS60215 Advanced Diploma of Accounting or any other relevant Advanced Diploma level qualification.
Those who wish to use the skills gained in the qualification in workplace, can find themselves moving into roles such as
- Accounts payable and receivable
- Tax agent.
