Course Description

This course is designed to reflect the role of individuals working in accounting and seeking professional identification. At this level individuals are expected to apply theoretical and technical skills in a range of situations and to display initiative and judgement in planning activities. They have autonomy in performing complex operations and can be responsible for planning, coordinating and evaluating the work of others within broad but generally well-defined parameters.


Course Structure

The 14 units of competency in this course will be delivered over a period of 104 weeks with 32 weeks holidays, consisting of 2 – 3 days per week of classroom based face-to-face learning (20 hours per week) to ensure full competency.

This is equivalent to 1440 hrs of training over a period of two years in 12 terms. Each term consists of 6 weeks.

Assessment Methods

Assessment is structured throughout the course. If students are unable to achieve competency, additional support is provided through academic support and access to re-assessment as outlined in our policies and procedures. Assessment requires achievement across all tasks to demonstrate competence and may include:


Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Students with prior learning and work experience can apply for RPL. Students who have completed corresponding units of competency and/or units contained within the packaging rules can apply for Credit Transfer. For more information, see our current policies and procedures at www.nccs.nsw.edu.au.


Future Pathway

Students who complete this qualification can continue their studies by advancing to higher education qualifications.
