Work Placement Requirements
Students within the CHC52025 Diploma of Community Services are required to complete a minimum of 100 hours of work placement, as detailed in the assessment requirements of the following units:
It is important that students commence their Work Placement as soon as possible after the completion of their unit, ideally within the first 6 months to ensure that the experiences are fresh in their minds. However, new students to the course would not be expected to commence a work placement until after at least 6 months of study within their course.
Work placement agreements will be signed with participating organisations, with checks to take place to confirm facilities and suitability of the host prior to the agreement being signed.
The work placement should be relevant to the unit requirements and outcomes with placement activities being relevant to the unit of competency being assessed.
Workplace supervisors are required to endorse each student’s logbook to confirm they have completed the required service period hours. Workplace supervisors must be suitably qualified, being professionals in their role.
All work placement must be completed before the end date of the course. Students who do not complete their work placement will not be eligible to complete the Diploma of Community Services.
Student Requirements for Work Placements
Students are required to secure their own work placement to achieve the 100 hours of work required for this course. Assistance and guidance will be provided by NCCS.
Students will need to supply the contact details of a Work Placement Host that that the College will make contact with the potential hosts, to enquire about hosting you for your work placement and to determine the suitability.
To meet the needs to the Work Placement Host, students must undergo suitable checks (e.g., police checks) which will be at the student’s own cost. Immunisations may also be required and will be advised by the host workplace.
